LA Properties Take Note!
The city of Los Angeles now has a program that provides multifamily residential buildings with free recycling services.
Residential properties such as apartments, town homes and mobile home parks can participate in the program, and will receive recycling services once a week and blue bins for storage of recyclables.
They will even get you started on your path to recycled enlightenment with educational materials about the types of materials accepted in blue bins.
Tenants need the consent of the property owner or property manager in order to register for the recycling program.
City staff will even contact the property owner or manager on the tenant’s behalf.
All you need to do is call 1-800-773-CITY (2489) or send an e-mail to multifamily@lacity.org. Give them your contact info, type of residence, number of units (you must have at least five) and name and phone number of the owner or property manager.
Someone will contact them to set things up.
According to the Web site, L.A. County accrues up to 35,000 tons of unrecycled waste daily - partly because many multifamily buildings aren’t equipped with bins.
